Workplace accidents and injuries must be reported correctly to comply with UK health and safety legislation. Likewise, any work-related illness must also be recorded.

This online RIDDOR course will teach you everything you need to know about The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR). As an employer or an employee, you’ll discover what your responsibilities are, as well as which incidents have to be reported and why. You’ll also find out how to submit a report online, by phone or in writing.

 

Objectives

By the end of this 2-3 hour RIDDOR course, you will:

  • Understand the key features of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR)
  • Value the purpose and importance of RIDDOR
  • Know what employers’ legal duties are under RIDDOR
  • Identify which workplace injuries, diseases or dangerous occurrences must be reported, according to RIDDOR
  • Understand the process of reporting an injury, disease or dangerous occurrence
  • Know which records need to be kept, and how
  • Understand the legal consequences of not reporting an injury, disease or dangerous occurrence as required under RIDDOR

This online training course covers the following subject areas:

  • What is RIDDOR and who does it concern?
  • RIDDOR in Northern Ireland
  • Why it’s important to report incidents
  • The benefits of having good health and safety
  • Reportable incidents – which injuries are included, or excluded?
  • Over 3-day injuries, 7-day injuries, deaths and injuries to the public
  • Occupational diseases and exposure to carcinogens, mutagens and biological agents
  • Offshore diseases, dangerous occurrences, gas incidents, mines, quarries and offshore site disturbances
  • Reporting – who should make a report and when?
  • How to report an injury, disease or dangerous occurrence
  • Out of hours reporting
  • The accident book – details that need to be kept
  • Law enforcement – defence, certificates of exemption, HSE involvement and prosecution

Assessment

At the end of this training course, you will take an online exam containing 10 multiple-choice questions. The exam is marked automatically and you’ll find out your results straight away. A pass mark of 80% is required, however, if you are unsuccessful, you can re-take the exam as many times as you need to at no extra charge

Who is this Course for?

Every employer and ‘responsible person’ (the person in control of the premises) is legally required to report workplace incidents and accidents under RIDDOR. This course will give you the knowledge you need to make a complete and timely report, as well as understanding why it is important to do so.

FAQs
  • How do I get my CSCS Green Labourers Card?

    There are 2 stages to achieving the CSCS Green Card.  It doesn't matter which order you complete the below stages in.

    • Stage 1 - Complete & Pass Safe2Site Online Training Course
    • Stage 2 - Take a CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test at your local centre (Approximate cost is £21)

    Once the above 2 stages are complete you can then apply for your card directly with CSCS.  The cost of the card is currently £36

    PLEASE NOTE - The cost of the online course does not include the touchscreen test or CSCS card application.

  • Is additional support available for students who have learning requirements, such as dyslexia?

  • Is this course accredited?

    Yes the course is certified by CPD (Continuing Professional Development).  Many of our online courses are also approved by RoSPA (Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents).

  • What device can I take the training on?

    The course can be accessed on any mobile, tablet, PC or laptop with an internet connection.

  • If I fail the course assessment, can I retake it?

    Yes! Don't worry you can retake the assessment as many times as you need and there are no additional charges.
