This abrasive wheels online training course will provide an introduction on how to work safely with abrasive wheels.  The training will be particularly relevant to those who use angle grinders, bench grinders and pedestal grinders.  This health and safety course won't cover any specific grinding machinery, although the health and safety information provided throughout will still be applicable.

This training course will enable you to understand the risks and control measures which can be put in place to prevent injury and ill-health.  As an introductory level course no pre-requisite training is required. Experience of using abrasive wheels would be advantageous.

Objectives

At the end of this online training course students will understand:

  • How to identify different types of abrasive wheels and associated equipment
  • The legal responsibilities placed on manufacturers, employers and employees
  • How to carry out a risk assessment of abrasive wheels
  • What control measures can be put in place to reduce the risks associated with abrasive wheels
  • How to safely handle, store, mount and use the main types of abrasive wheels

This online course will cover the following subjects:

  • Abrasive wheels hazards and controls

Assessment

At the end of the course you will be required to complete an online assessment consisting of 20 multiple choice questions.  The pass rate is 80% or higher and answers are automatically marked so you’ll know instantly whether you passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.

This online training course is suitable for employees who will be using abrasive wheels within their work activities. Previous use of abrasive wheels will be advantageous. 

This online training course is ideal, but not limited to, people working in positions such as:

  • Site Managers / Supervisors

  • Carpenter / Joiner / Fitter
  • Electrician
  • Builder / Construction worker
  • Bricklayer
FAQs
  • How long is my certificate valid for?

    Certification is valid for 5 years.  On expiry, delegates are required to re-take the training.

  • How do I get my CSCS Green Labourers Card?

    There are 2 stages to achieving the CSCS Green Card.  It doesn't matter which order you complete the below stages in.

    • Stage 1 - Complete & Pass Safe2Site Online Training Course
    • Stage 2 - Take a CITB Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test at your local centre (Approximate cost is £21)

    Once the above 2 stages are complete you can then apply for your card directly with CSCS.  The cost of the card is currently £36

    PLEASE NOTE - The cost of the online course does not include the touchscreen test or CSCS card application.

  • Does the training need to be completed within a specific time frame?

    No.  There is no time limit to complete the course and you're free to learn at your own pace.  The training can be taken in as many sessions as you wish or completed in one go.

  • Is this course accredited?

    Yes the course is certified by CPD (Continuing Professional Development).  Many of our online courses are also approved by RoSPA (Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents).

  • What device can I take the training on?

    The course can be accessed on any mobile, tablet, PC or laptop with an internet connection.

  • If I fail the course assessment, can I retake it?

    Yes! Don't worry you can retake the assessment as many times as you need and there are no additional charges.
